Marina Apgar is a Research Fellow in the Participation, Inclusion and Social Change cluster at IDS. She is a human ecologist with 20 years’ experience working in the research-practice divide with marginalised communities globally. Within the context of international development and with a focus on resilience, agriculture and fisheries and natural resource management she has supported learning and change in complex social-ecological systems. With an emphasis on systemic and power aware action research and combed with theory based evaluation approaches, she builds and innovates with complexity-aware evaluation methodologies to learn about how large and complex research collaborations can support development outcomes and who wins and who loses in the process.
